The twenty second Wedding Anniversary is symbolised by the gifts of copper.

While the metal itself is not particularly romantic, copper is associated with Venus, the goddess of love. The word itself comes from the name 'Cyprus' where copper mining flourished and Venus was worshiped.

The gemstone associated with this anniversary is Spinel in all colours. Spinel comes in a variety of colours and indeed was mistaken for many years as Ruby, indeed the most famous is the one embedded in the English Crown.
