Wedding Anniversary Marriage of Twelve Years - Silk or Linen

The twelfth Wedding Anniversary is symbolised by the gift of silk.

Twelve is such a popular number, that the tradition has it that the Danish have a special celebration. They have a so called  twelve and a half year wedding anniversary where friends and family build half an archway to the entrance of the couple's home. It is decorated and lit for the anniversary celebrations. Twelve and a half years later the second half of the arch is built.

The flowers associated with the twelfth wedding anniversary are Peonies and the gemstone associated with this anniversary is Agate, Jade or Colored Gems.

Agate is treasured as a good overall healing stone thought to balance and calm the mind as well as emotions. Some people also believe it helps ease painful conditions such as bruises, strains and sprains. Also the birthstone for the Zodiac sign of Aquarius.

Jade is thought of as a stone which brings luck. It has long been cherished in China as it ensured long life.

Traditional gifts for the twelfth wedding anniversary include fresh linen sheets, delicate scarves, silk flowers, clothing, ties.

The twelfth wedding anniversary, with its symbols of silk and linen, suggest an appreciation of the finer things of life, including the couple's recognition of each other's uniqueness and finer qualities. If celebrating this wedding anniversary on their own, the couple might like to visit the most desirable restaurant in their area, or set their own table with their own very best linen and china.
